What it was
bunny.directory is a launch directory made for indie makers and early-stage startups. Products launch free and keep a permanent page; the daily rankings reward makers who keep showing up, with carrots from other builders, helpful comments and streaks counted on the builder leaderboard. Free listings keep a dofollow backlink while the bunny.directory badge is on the maker's site. Featured ($29) and Premium ($79) add 30 days of home page and site-wide placement.
We kept shipping features for makers but never found a distribution channel that compounded — each launch spiked traffic, then it flatlined. Biggest mistake: Spent months polishing the daily ranking and streak mechanics instead of bringing in the first hundred makers. Retention / experiments: Makers launched once and rarely came back. We tried carrots, streaks and a builder leaderboard, but repeat visits stayed low.
Distribution beats features: build the audience of makers first, then build the directory for them.
