What it was

LeadVault Pro is a B2B lead intelligence and prospecting platform built to help businesses discover, enrich, qualify, and manage potential customers in one place. The platform combines a large business contact database with lead discovery, prospect scoring, technology-stack insights, signals, CRM tools, data extraction, team collaboration, API/webhooks, and reseller capabilities. It currently contains 2.6M+ business records and supports multiple lead discovery and data sources. It was built with commercial SaaS and reseller use cases in mind, with an existing subscription structure and infrastructure that can be further scaled by a new owner. The product is being offered for acquisition because the owner is shifting focus to other projects. The sale includes the LeadVault domain, source code, customer data, intellectual property, and the assets required to operate and deploy the platform.

What actually went wrong

LeadVault was built as a B2B lead intelligence and prospecting platform, with the goal of bringing lead discovery, enrichment, qualification and CRM capabilities into one product. The platform grew into a substantial product with a large business database and multiple prospecting and sales features. However, as the founder's focus shifted toward other projects, there wasn't enough time and attention available to continue developing and marketing LeadVault at the level required to reach its full potential. Rather than shutting the product down, the decision was made to make it available to another founder or company that can take over the existing product, infrastructure and codebase and continue building it. Biggest mistake: I focused heavily on building the product and its capabilities before putting enough sustained attention into distribution and sales. Retention / experiments: The main challenge was consistent customer acquisition and engagement rather than a single product issue. Different positioning, pricing and acquisition approaches were explored, but the product ultimately needed more consistent sales and marketing attention than I could dedicate while working on other projects.

Lessons for the next founder

Building the product was only one part of the challenge. A B2B data product also needs consistent distribution, sales and customer development. If I were starting again, I would spend more time validating the strongest customer segment and distribution channel before expanding the product so extensively.
