What it was
SubmitStorm was a done-for-you directory submission service for startups, SaaS products and apps. One short brief, one payment, and the team submitted your product to 50 to 200 hand-picked directories — launch platforms, SaaS and AI tool directories, and niche lists — with a proof screenshot of every submission and a full report within 7 to 14 days.
SubmitStorm ran as a done-for-you directory submission service. Sales stayed one-off and seasonal, and the manual work did not scale past a handful of packages a month, so we wound it down. Biggest mistake: Competing on hand-done quality in a market where buyers compare on price and directory count. Retention / experiments: Most customers bought one package and never came back — submissions are a one-time job. We tried a follow-up package and a referral discount; neither created repeat revenue.
A service priced like a product still has service margins. Recurring revenue or automation is what makes it survive.
